Even your layers, have layers…

Boho Mod Layers : ModCloth
So I was thrilled when ModCloth asked me to put together a layered look using their super cute clothes! I'd been on their site before, but it had been a hot minute. I WANT ERRYTHING. So much fabulousness and great prices too. I'm sold. Anywhozzle. I am, of course, drawn to anything that The Olsen's would wear aka Hobo Chic, so this Bona Fide Boho Cardigan was where it all started. Obsessed. I like the idea of wearing a chic, modern blouse underneath a graphic tee and shut your face, weekends ARE for waffles. I think this is hip and playful, it would pair so well with some leathery leggings… I mean, you could do skinny jeans, but come on, stretchy pants for the win. I like the juxtaposition of this relaxed look with a super structured bag in a rad color. Throw on some booties and a few hip rings and you are officially too cool for school… are people still saying that!? Meh. If you really wanna bring the hobo chic on strong add a super fun beanie or a rad scarf in a bold color. I'm in love, I'm also wishing I didn't live in Southern California. Please ignore my crazy talk. Definitely stop by the site, I'm also digging this sweater and this sweater and thissss sweater. You get it. You can check out their entire selection of fab cardigans here!!! You know you want to!!

Happy Monday Folks!!

The Long and Short of it

First off, I had pink hair!!!! It's been 15 years in the making, but I finally put some pink in my locks! Such a rebel. Yes, you can barely tell in these photos and that was sorta the point and it's pretty much completely gone now. Next time I will go brighter, but I wanted a kiss of pastel pink to make me feel like the cool mom I am… cause I am soooo not a regular mom…

So here's my final maternity fashion post! I can't believe I'm no longer pregnant… It's amazing how that happens… I have never been much for maxi skirts on me before pregnancy. Honestly, even as a self proclaimed stylist I find them very difficult to dress. I love layers and the whole rocker thing, so I find it hard to layer on a maxi without looking like a full on hobo. Well with as hot as it's been, pants and shorts are just a hell no and if you don't want to purchase maternity clothes you are left with maxi skirts and maxi dresses. This skirt was lovingly passed down from my sister, I stretch it out pretty badly every time I wear it, but luckily it always shrinks back. If you've never visited my sister's store's site you totally should, you can find it here. Super cute, super affordable. I have also had a ton of luck with Nordstrom Racks maxi skirt selection and for the price you can't beat it. I don't plan on wearing these much post baby, so I really didn't want to spend a fortune. I've tried to keep my maxi's fun and patterned and pair them with a ton of boho accessories. I threw on whatever rings still fit my sausage fingers and as many dainty gold necklaces as my sweaty body can handle [little did I know that wasn't going to go away after Rocco's birth]. My makeup these days, as you can see, is barely there. If I can cover redness and the bags under my eyes than I am totes winning at life! Who's ready for Fall/Winter!? #ThisGirl

Flower Power

A flower crown is a must for any hippie in training! Just ask Pinterest!! Despite my lack of crafting skills I was able to, with the help from a friend, create an inexpensive and super cool flower crown quicker than you can say hippie-dippy-trippy-coachella-petchuli stink. Swearsies

diy-flower crown-coachella- hippie -boho- bohemian[We started by wrapping 2 pieces of raffia wire together to our desired circumference. No idea if that's what it's actually called, but it looks like flower wire wrapped in raffia. You can find it in the silk flower section]

diy-flower crown-coachella- hippie -boho- bohemian[We decided make the twists closer together because it looked cool. texture = good]

diy-flower crown-coachella- hippie -boho- bohemian[We used wire cutters to keep the sharp edges from scratching.]

diy-flower crown-coachella- hippie -boho- bohemian[We choose 2 different kinds of fake flowers, a main white one and then a smaller beige flower. We took off all of the leaves and some of the white flowers and added smaller beige petals to give it a little somethin' special.]

diy-flower crown-coachella- hippie -boho- bohemian[We kept adding stems until it was full and perfectly fairy-like!]

The finished product!!! For under 10 bucks, I think it's the perfect accessory for a photo shoot, a wedding, or whatever hipster music festival you're heading to next!!! Enjoy!!!

This was one of my favorite photo shoots to date!! I felt like a desert fairy! I must really like fairies, I always seem to feel like one! This is such a good photo shoot look, but also translates really well to everyday. It's really boho bracelets, a maxi dress, and some sandals. Add flower crown and you're good to go, insta-hippie!! I have been a little obsessed with arm parties. I like my wrists to be decked out something fierce. I have collected my bracelets over time which suits my style because I can't stand anything too matchy-matchy. I love Lenny & Eva bracelets!! My sister got me hooked! You can buy them from her store and various boutiques. I love that they can be personalized and hold some sort of meaning to you! I am always on the look out for a perfect stacking bracelet and I'm in love with this one here, and this one, oh and this one... and this one too... Yes, I have a serious problem. This dress is an old Anthro purchase, probably one of my most perfect purchases to date! It's long gone from the stores, but this one is pretty major! I love this look and definitely think that it can be replicated super easily by just about anyone for a casual day look!!

Fairy Princess

As you will soon see, Blissful Happenings loves a good hippie moment. I just can't help myself. The older I get the more and more of a hippie I become. Not sure what that's all about but this SoCal air probably has something to do with it. It's all the sun. Totally fries your brain. This look was one of my favorites from a recent shoot with my most favoritest Tatum. Because sometimes you just need to frolic around the forest braless with a flower crown. If you want your own little bit of backless fairy fun, I'm more than a little obsessed with this on here. And get excited, there's a DIY post in the works... Soon you can make your own flipping flower crown for a fraction of the cost of your Coachella ticket!
