So here's the thing. Layers, they're great... they look awesome... but ain't no-one got time for that. When it comes down to it, I'm wearing easy clothes, outfits that require little thought. Clothes that I can throw off when I need to nurse or get a hormone hot flash. Yes, those happen. This jean and bootie combo has been a favorite of mine lately, see last weeks ootd post. I wear my trusty Felicity Nursing Tanks from Target under every damn thing. The tanks aren't online right now, but I've still seen them in the stores. They are 25.99 and rock my world. Buy. TONS. This is the outfit I've pretty much been living in when leaving the house, my sweater probably needs a wash, but I just keep spraying it with Tubby Todd Mama Spray in the hopes that no one will be able to tell it's been days since I last bathed... Cheers to that!!!

Over the past 8 years, I've gone from warm climate to warm climate and rarely seen temps deserving of my giant leopard coat. It was purchased for a steal from the new defunct Piperlime. I miss Piperlime, it was good stuff!!! Any who, this is as close to a winter look as you are going to get from me, I have been able to justify wearing my coat a total of 1 time... 30 degrees in the sunshine. That's stinking cold. Also, grab a pair of these Gap jeans, so comfy. I suggest going down a size as after a bit of wear they loosen up big time.

Blissful's Back, Alright.

Oh my god, she's back again. Excuse my 90's reference. As a nearly 33 year old, I am wholeheartedly embracing my old-ness. Plus, that song still kicks ass 20 years later. I started blogging 10 years ago because it was fun. Then stopped because it was un-fun. Then started again. Then stopped, ah-gain. I've now done this a handful of times, wrestled with if it mattered and who cared... Then came to the conclusion, that I missed the creative outlet and will continue to blog when it's fun. Moreover I've decided to embrace the roots of my blog and talk clothes. Fashion. My original true love.

The idea of what dressing up means has changed for me. Having kids has something to do with that, but my time in SoCal has schooled me the art of casual dress. This look is fun, right!? What I love about my Storq dress is that while I look put together and dare I say "dressed up" the truth is, I'm in a stylish nightgown or at least that's what it feels like and I can throw it in the wash. That my friends is the goal. Comfort. Ease. Also, if you've been debating a shaggy coat, I say go for it. You will not be sorry.

My Ode to Sweatpants

My Dearest Sweatpants, oh how I love thee, Recently you came under vicious attack by an obnoxiously bronzed celebrity, who is so beautiful it actually makes me angry, but no mind. She deemed you, “the number 1 cause of divorce...” in her slanderous attack. Not only only does this statistic seem grossly inaccurate, it’s just plain disrespectful. The poor gorgeous celebrity has of course since eaten her words, but alas, the damage was done...  I am writing to reassure you that despite such a heinous remark you are still much loved and appreciated by wives everywhere!!! Me included. You are soft, stretchy and can easily go from grocery store to nap. You don’t make me feel self conscious about my post-baby love handles. You are just as comfy after an entire Chipotle burrito and a bag of chips and gauc as you are after a morning run-- [hahaha, but let's be serious, I'm never running…yet you love me anyways] And as an added bonus, you can be removed with ease anytime the mood strikes and that makes you sexy as hell.

You are now more socially acceptable than ever with chic “loungewear” designs popping up everywhere from Loft to JCrew to Alexander Wang... So not only are you NOT the the number 1 cause of divorce, you’re cool AND sexy!!! Stay stretchy my love!

So every few weeks I thought it would be fun to catch you up with my latest Pinterest obsessions because, as it turns out, I'm a superiorly talented pinner. I wish I could make it a job… Does that mean I should be an editor?! I think yes. Anywho, a few years ago I even won a Rachel Zoe Pinterest contest and besides my wedding day and the birth of my child, it's my proudest moment. You think I'm joking. Since I spend most of my days to in some sort of stretchy pant, not the kind acceptable to wear out in public, I thought I would take a quick journey down memory lane. Let's have a quick moment of silence for all the ridiculously fun clothes I used to wear [I miss you leopard pencil skirt], the kind of fun clothes I hope to wear again… someday… If you have the energy to dress up or wash your hair, I've also included some pieces the chic Lauren buried deep down inside is currently lusting after for you to shop!!!! Oscars 2015: The good, the bad, & the hot damn messes.

So these 3 were easily my favorites. I really enjoyed the red carpet this year. I thought that there were a ton of classy and chic gowns. There were also a few misses… Nothing that was just so awful I wanted to vom, just gowns that didn't quite sit right with me… not that anyone cares what I think… what am I talking about!?!? Everyone cares what I think… I haven't slept in 5 months. Let's start with the good. My numero uno was hands down Emma Stone in Elie Saab. I mean, shut up. SHUT. UP. This was pure magic. The color, the slit, the back, the lip color, the hair, all perfection. The shoes look a bit like dyeables, but I'll let it slide because I am THAT obsessed with her gown. I thought Julianne Moore looked exquisite. I know a few folks took issue with the natural waist detailing, but I am absolutely obsessed with this custom Chanel. I mean, it's classic and she looked so beautiful. I loved the lack of accessories. And Rosamund Pike, my favorite Jane Bennett, in Givenchy, like really!? She had a baby like 2 seconds ago and this red is magnificent. She is seriously the picture of all that is sophistication. I am obsessed with her shoes… If Emma Stone was wearing these shoes in the same chartreuse as her gown… Shut the front door. My honorable mentions went to Dakota Johnson in YSL and Zana Roberts Rossi in Valentino.

The bad.  Now, I should start by saying these aren't really bad… I mean, they aren't my favorites and  they are fine, but something didn't quite sit well with me… I love all of these ladies and just wanted more… or less… I am so bored with Sienna Miller's dress. Like snooze fest. The bottom is interesting, but the top, the bows, the overly contoured face, and Heidi hair?!? It just fell very flat for me… And then my love, my spirit animal, Gwyneth… What the whaaaaaa!??! She's beautiful and her body is banging. Like BANGIN, but what is going on here!?! Maybe without the flower and with her hair put up… Maybe!?!? Then J.Lo. Ohhh J.Lo, ohhhhhh dear. This is not doing it for me. She is so unbelievably beautiful and I am just not a fan of this dress. It looks like she is desperately searching for her youth, but she doesn't need to search, she's found it, she's freaking Benjamin Buttoning. This just seems like way too much, put the tatas away for the love of all that's good and holy. Feel free to disagree. I also don't like the lipstick. I also wasn't a huge fan of Reese Witherspoon or Jennifer Aniston, BOR-ingggggg.

The hot damn messes. Ah-gain, these aren't really the MOST awful gowns we've ever seen, but they are certainly not the best looks… Not by a long shot. I get about a million texts from friends on Oscar night and my favorite goes to my ginger bestie, Em, with, "Nicole Kidman's dress made me wanna vom. Not pretty." I have to agree. I love Nic, but damn this is weird. The iridescent sequins, the strange hemline, the awful red? orange? belt… Nope, not working. AT ALL. I'm glad to see her face a little less frozen, but damn, this is not good. Moving on to Marion, she's French so I suppose she's allowed to wear whatevs the heck she wants, but this Dior is just so weird… I know that fashion people think this is so chic, blah blah blah, nope. Now that I have a child I can only think of one thing "diaper butt." It's like, let's think of a way to make a beautiful lady look like she's wearing a strange back diaper with a black band right under her poop shoot… Nah. I'll pass. Then there's Lady Gaga… What can you say!? It's almost not even right to critique her because she's truly from another planet. This dress isn't awful. In fact, while a touch cray, it's kind of cool and avant-garde, but dear Lord leave it to Gaga to ruin that with Uuuu-gly gloves and a strange hair piece. I really enjoyed her completely over the top performance and thought her hair and makeup were stunning. Definitely something you don't hear much about her… way to ruin a good thing by trying too hard to be wacky.

That's my quick breakdown, definitely riddled with grammar and spelling errors. C'est la Vie. Who was your favorite? Who was your least favorite!? Do you agree with my choices!? Lemme know!!!!

I have lost all patience with uncomfortable shoes… This happened long before pregnancy and baby. I mean, after moving to Cali I pretty much shelved all of my heels. I don't know. I just think life is too short to wear uncomfortable shoes. It is totally possible to be fashionable and chic and wear a comfy pair of shoes. While trainers are back in style these days, I'm currently debating between this pair, this pair, or this pair, running shoes are not your only option for comfy shoes. I love the return of these cool Van-like shoes and in leopard!?! Stop it. They are so comfy and look so hip. I have a few pairs, but I'm also lusting after more. Booties are also a serious win in my book. They look so cool and dude, you'll never guess, they are so damn comfy. I also have quite the collection of oxfords and loafers. They are making the shapes and colors so cool and feminine these days! If you are looking for something a little more girlie a chic pair of d'orsay flats may be exactly what you need! I've been lusting after this pair for ages, I think it might be time to make the leap. They are so chic and definitely have a little more panache than a pair of ballet flats.
